do ESPN First Take | LeBron James says he belongs on the NBA Mount Rushmore
Lebron should be up there... He is awesome now...... skip just needs to
shut the hell up..
In my opinion. The Mount Rushmore of basketball should consist of the most
influential players of all time. Not necessarily the best players but
players who, in their own ways, changed the sport forever.
So my Mt.Rushmore goes like this. Warning, the 1st is gonna be a real
shocker because people forget about this guy a lot. #1 is Bob Cousy. He
should be there because he was, IMO, the first ever REAL BONA FIDE NBA
superstar. Before Baylor, Russel, and Wilt came to the league, Cousy was
already making noise. He's not "Mr. Basketball" for nothing. #2 is Julius
Erving. Erving brought a new style of play. Every slasher you see now, even
if some are better than Julius was, based their game on Julius' style in
some way or another so because of that, I'm putting him up there. #3 I'm
going with Jordan. Not because he was the greatest to play the game but
because he was the perfect mix of talent, accomplishments, and fame and so
that makes him extremely influential. Not only did he make the sport more
famous than ever before but his name became bigger than the sport itself.
My #4 is still open though. I can't quite decide from Kareem, Oscar, Wilt,
and Bill. I'll even go so far as to say that Magic and Bird should share a
spot because of how similar they were in terms of influence and impact.
Here's something fun though. Who would people pick for their NBA COACHES
MT.RUSHMORE?
Real Basketball Mount Rushmore ....There should be 5.... fuck that 4
president shit .... its 5 guys on the court so 5 guys on Basketball Mount
Rushmore
1. Michael Jordan (Guaranteed No Questions)
2. Kareem Abdul Jab-bar (Revolutionary dude)
3. Wilt Chamberlain ( Most Dominant Player you'll find in the Basketball
Dictionary)
4. Magic Johnson (6'9 points guard whose rivalry with Larry Bird revived
the NBA)
5. For Now (Bill Russell) But , and i hate to say it, but (Lebron James)
When its all said and done ... dude is too powerful too much skills and
versatility..... Im one of those Die-Hard Kobe fans that actually
appreciate the presence of such a guy..
skip is right!
Shaq, Duncan, Kareem, Jordan.
Judging from the comments you'd think the nba has only been around since
the 90s. Bill Russell, Michael Jordan, Kareem Abdul Jabar, and for the
younger guys the Black Mamba (Kobe). But LeBron hasn't done enough to
deserve being in that conversation just by being a freak athlete, it's
about titles and the contribution the player had towards it.
what a douchebag... awards and recognition are given when due not demanded.
Lebron Jane is one of the most arrogant bratty asswipe i have ever seen.
LeBron got his championships from a calculating maneuver in which he teamed
up with two other All-Stars. It's not as fair to compare the greats of the
past with the greats now... LeBron probably deserves it but his
championships are the product of being on a team that is a lock for the ECF
every year.
There is no parity in the NBA anymore. There are the good teams and the
shit teams, in this respect i've started to watch the NHL more because at
least in the NHL it's kind of like an "Any Given Sunday" type deal where
nothing is a lock.
The regular season for these guys is like practice. They just try not to
get hurt for playoffs. Jordan had to put a team on his back... he had good
sidekicks and role-players... but he was the man. The NBA is getting so
predictable, the fun is getting sucked from it.
I put Jordan over Kobe because Kobe benefited many years from playing with
Shaq. He did win one with Pau Gasol tho, who is skilled but is no Shaq.
Stephen a Smith's reasons for putting lebron instead of Kobe is so stupid.
Shaq wouldn't have won those three championships without Kobe, because none
of them started winning until Kobe started developing his game, so they
were inseperable. Shaq needed Kobe when it came to fourth quarters because
shaq was a liability on the free throw line. And now lebron has lost three
times in the finals compared to kobe's 2
Magic Johnson avg 4 turnovers his career , can't shoot and can't defend why
if his overrated ass in the conversation?
Kobe is injured but he will always be better than LeBron. LeBron is a cry
baby I getting tired of it
Wtf did kd have to do with this?
stephen a is a dumbass get lebrons dick out of yo mouth. even LEBRON said
he's not there yet but he will be! which I completely agree with but for
stephen a smith to put him on his mt rushmore at this point in his career
over Wilt, Bill, and Oscar just shows how hard he longs for lebrons dick
Kobe lost 2 finals series? Yes, he did Stephen A, but so did, Lebron.
Right? And if I'm not mistaken he came very close to losing another in a
close out game where he seemed to perform very poorly in the waning moments
of a game in a series against a team he should've dominated (if he's, you
know, as good as the media puts on).
Lebron is a total freak of nature just as Wilt the "Stilt" was, does he get
consideration for a place the "NBA Mount Rushmore"? I rarely even hear his
name mention on this show whenever there's a discussion about the nba
greats. The point is is that Lebron is great but he's isn't MJ great, nor
is he Magic, Bird, Jabber, or even Kobe great and that's based on pure
basketball intelligence, awareness, know how, and skills especially skill.
These gents skills stood the tests of time and were relied on heavily when
it came to the accolades they work so desperately hard thru out their
entire lives to achieved. Jabber wasn't born with the hook-shot perfected,
Jordan's mom didn't spawn a basketball scoring machine. They had to work.
Lebron skills with the ball in his hands are marginal at best but more then
makes up for it with his physical makeup, speed, and leaping ability and
still at times looks lost. Add that to the NBA weakening the defensive
rules any time they feel, media members getting carried away all the time,
and the children that can't spell "FUNDAMENTALS" let alone know what it is
and how it matters when it comes to basketball. You get this I deserve to
be in the Mount Rushmore bullshit. Get it thru your heads people he ain't
all that.
hes so fuckin cocky i hate him
MJ- the G.O.A.T.
Bill Russell- Most rings
Wilt Chamberlain- Most dominant player
Magic Johnson- Most Versatile player
agree with skip about production and earning the spot.
Durant makes everyone in the League who guards him look silly... Skip is
such a dumbass
Wilt, Bill, Oscar, Kareem
Arrogant ass lebron who wants to be in the nba mt.rushmore sure hes a great
player but you have no bball respect cmon flopping without contact on dudes
and ibaka is right about him doing lockdown defense like quarter of a games
and he expects to be defensive player of the year there are other dudes
better ...cmon i used to be lebron fan but after he got a ring he just
became arrogant
Michael Jordan, Earving "Magic" Johnson, Larry Bird and Kobe Bryant that is
my Mount Rushmore of Lebron has to prove his an extraordinary Freak of
Nature and prove himself more to beat Isaiah Thomas and Dr. J who are not
even on the list to earn a spot. Period!!!! the rest can go eat it S*#T, We
the fans are the ones to recognise his achievements and put him up there
not being arrogant to declare such. Show us don't Tell Mr Lebron James
This is the biggest troll/loaded question ever. Lets be real, they did a
top50 list and still had contrevesy at the end, so only four. This is my
opinion, you can get the greatest basketball historians, or respected
figures and ask them to pick a "Mt.rushmore" and i guarantee everyone will
have different answers
Jordan didn't have a team nearly as stacked as the heat, Pippen would NOT
be a HOF without Jordan and that is a fact take Lebron off the heat and the
Heat are still a playoff team Please stop forcing Lebron to be great if it
happens then it happens but I'm tired of hearing this shit every time
Lebron has a good game.
Just listing 4 players is hard.
that would be so disrespectful to jerry west if you changed the logo and
why change such an iconic logo ??
Stephen A is a fool. I'm no Kobe fan but he criticises Kobe for losing in
the finals yet LeBron has one of the most embarrassing/downright pathetic
finals losses of all time to his name. He says Kareem needed Magic and says
that Kobe needed Shaq yet fails to mention Wade's impact on LeBron's
legacy? Ass kissing at it's finest.
THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT KOBE WINNING 3 RING WITH SHAQ AND NOT TALKING ABOUT
LEBRON WINNING 2 RING WITH WADE LEBRON CANT WIN A RING WITHOUT WADE
Skip is more accurate in this one for sure
stephan smith an athlete bootlicker, hes 2 busy seeking athletes approval
and trying 2 b cool with them and wont dare be objective like skip 4 fear
of being labeled an uncle tom like all "black analysts" r guilty of and i
hope lebron with those nasty tattoos is eclipsed by Durant, kids dont need
2 look up 2 trash nowadays especially!
Mike, Magic, Bird, and Kobe are all on this Mt. Rushmore.
Larry bird magic johnson michael jordan kobe bryant thats it
Thesublime1459 Mount Rushmore:
MJ
Bill Russell
Wilt
Big O.........
Sorry Magic and Bird.........
Right now hell no, and fuck the 'Mount Rushmore" of NBA players. Lebron
James still has ten years left in the chamber but no. What happens to LBJ
when he can't dunk on dudes. What happens to Lebron when he can't got
'coast to coast'. Watch his game and tell me.
what about Bill Russel?
Kobe has more talent than Lebron. Not only today, but everyday, over their
careers, and forever. Magic, Bird and Michael also cannot be eclipsed by
Lebron until he wins 6, 7 or 8 championships. And even then, he would only
be a new chapter in their book. Which is tragically amputated by our
short-sighted perception of the past. Wilt and Kareem, I would also take
over Lebron in a half court game… Shaq as well. Lebron is still there. But
I would never take him over Kobe. Maybe Magic…or Bird…but probably not
Bird. And definitely not Michael. Jeffrey. Jordan. Also, if you give me 4
other all-stars or Hall of Famers, I probably take Magic over Lebron. If
it's one on one, that's the only time I give LBJ the nod over Magic. Bird,
Kobe, and M J though I would take over LBJ 1 on 1, 5v5, on the moon, twice
on Sunday, and especially in the last 5 minutes. Case closed. Thank you.
mount rushmore should be jordan, wilt, lebron, kobe
Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Lebron James
Oscar Robertson was slow, slow, slow, Skip. Great players like Kevin
Johnson or Tim Hardaway are not in the GOAT conversation, but they would
have embarrassed Oscar.
Steven A Smith forgot Kobe lol. Just cuz hes a freak of nature doesn't
mean he's one the greatest. Kobe would wreck him in his prime
1st:A terrible statement by LBJ.No,sir, you are not one of the greatest. Not
yet. What happens if an injury anchors you for a season, then u get back and
become a shade of yourself?Lebron's game is largely athletic, that doesn't
last forever.Plus,he is not the proven best small forward of his era.He
would be,if KD was not that much of a contenter, but, hey,he is and he's
coming.
2nd:What a lame topic of discussion.You can't introduce a player to an
all-time top 5,when he's still playing.Not LBJ,not Kobe not anyone.
3rd:When naming someone all time top 5,CLEARLY you're talking about career
success.Talent is had by most.Careers by very few.
You just cant put Lebron over Kareem or Bill Russell at this moment, any
decent minded basketball fan knows that. For me its MJ, Larry, Magic and
Kareem
Think about it. Michael Jordan had Scottie Pippen. Top 5 small forward of
all time. Kareem had the greatest PG of all time. Magic had a top 5
center of all time. LeBron had a top 5 shooting guard of all time. Bill
Russell had no one that you would say is top 5 all time at their position.
Bob Cousy would be the closest. When Durant wins a ring this year, you
can't say he won it with someone top 5 of all time at their position.
@6:53 bitch said oscar robinson...gtfo
skip said that like dwade didn't have a hard time without lebron. They both
had problems.
Skip Bayless talking about LeBron James. Reminds me of when John Madden
talked about Brett Favre.
I'm sorry but this conversation is pretty dumb considering lebron is only
29 years old, when it comes to legacy lebron could possibly be #1 in the
end. He could play until he's 40
Stephen is being a complete hypocrite here, he mentioned 'Don't celebrate
if you're not a champion', went on to diss Lebron for 20 minutes, now he's
talking about Talent as appose to backing Lebron's only 2 titles compared
to the greats, saying Lebron is a top 4 player in general (forget the idea
of Rushmore it's an excuse) is completely wrong, if i had a Mountain that
had 8 greats he would be edged out of it, clearly this generation is just
living the moment and forgetting about all the other NBA Greats, talk to me
when Lebron is more accomplished cuz he is not even close to Kobe Bryant on
Legacy
